In 2007, the Town of Dayton started the process to acquire the old Tongue River High School building and property as TRHS was starting to build their new high school.
In 2007, the Town of Dayton applied for a Community Facilities Grant through the Wyoming Business Council to remodel the old high school as a community center and lease it to the Board of Directors of the Tongue River Valley Community Center with their Director Erin Kilbride managing the site. In Nov. of 2009 the Center opened for business. The Town of Dayton remains a strong partner for this facility and is excited to see the growth in the years to come.
